Installation Theatrical Engineering (ITE) is theatrical equipment, engineering, and supplier company that provide services on stage engineering, drapes & tracking, audio-visual, stage lighting, and maintenance. They offer a range of curtain textiles that are all useful in various theatre events, clubs, bars, nightclubs, entertainment venues, dance studios, school concert halls, recording studios, movie halls, and band rooms.
The smoke & fire curtains produced by ITE are Inherently Flame Retardant (IFR). The smoke curtain is a component of a smoke control system. Its purpose is to either prevent smoke from reaching another zone or redirect it along a particular route. A fire curtain is used to separate two areas from each other in the event of fire use.
It may provide smoke control, but its primary purpose is to prevent the spread of fire. It is generally used to shield an open stairway or prevent fire from spreading from one floor to another via an open atrium.
ITE generally sets the smoke curtains above the head height and doesn’t let them descend to the ground as not to interfere with the means of escape. The fire and smoke curtains have a similar appearance, but they have different functionality. Fire curtains allow access to safe escape routes in both vertical and horizontal ways.
To
limit the smoke entry into these routes & shafts without any loss in fire
resistance, the fire curtains are produced with a fire rating of 1800°F. The smoke curtain should only be
exposed to the smoke as it has a fire rating of 1112°F.
ITE’s smoke and fire curtains are self-extinguished, washable, and got a higher price point. The flame retardant will not wear off or wash away with the layer of protection as they are being stitched to the fibre itself.
Conclusion
Whether
you’re buying a smoke curtain or a fire curtain, always check the quality and
buy it when it’s absolutely in need. You must have a fire or smoke curtain when
your event plays includes the usage of fire. To prevent further dangerous fire
incidents, keep one of the curtains for safety.
